Nike Missile Base to Butterfly Garden in 55 Years

Aerial views of the prairie and butterfly garden area of Rouge Park, Detroit, show nature reclaiming what was a Nike anti-aircraft missile base launch area decommissioned in 1961. Friends of Rouge Park volunteers worked to create the garden and prairie path.
The totem poles are the Cody Rouge Food Justice Amphitheater in Rouge Park erected in 2012 by the Cody Rouge Community Action Alliance and are near the control center for the Nike missile base Site D-69.
